Basement Windows

Windows are able to make your basement more aesthetically pleasing and offer added safety. Large basement windows, sometimes called "egress windows," from Pella of Cape Cod are built to permit more light into underground areas than the older, smaller, rectangular windows that sit above ground. They also provide a way to get out in case of an emergency.

The biggest difference between basement, or egress, windows and standard windows is that basement windows are required to be made for an average-sized person to escape through in order to meet safety requirements outlined in building codes. You are able to choose from appropriately sized casement, sliding or double-hung windows when you add basement windows. Make sure you fully understand local building codes before you purchase basement windows.
