Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Originating in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only might your notice a decrease in your heating and cooling bill, you can help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are each specifically designed and custom-built for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our large variety of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To speed up the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is armed with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has been given the opportunity to consider the requirements of the task and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a large range of high-grade products to choose from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the upgrades you want to while building great value into your Cape Cod area home all the while.

Can I paint my vinyl windows?

The beauty of Pella's® vinyl windows is that you won’t have to. You can order the windows the color you want. We do not recommend painting your vinyl products, as this will end your warranty. Some paint companies advertise that their paint can adhere to vinyl, but it could ruin your windows if the wrong paint is applied or done incorrectly.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We recommend that you clean them with a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mix or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the mix to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could leave streaks or create a film that draws moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses reliable installers who are certified to install Pella windows and doors. We require them to complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty guidelines. We find the best Cape Cod-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are are insured by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Pella provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Working with a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and professional Pella installers means that your renovation will have the knowledge of our whole team. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.
